Haven Update

Summer has brought fresh reminders that hope continues to grow at The Haven.

Haven Update: Summer has brought fresh reminders that hope continues to grow at The Haven. Each month, we witness lives moving forward through small victories that, together, create lasting transformation. Whether it's welcoming a new resident, celebrating employment, learning new life skills, or simply watching a baby smile, every milestone tells the same story: hope is taking root.

This month, we welcomed a new resident into our home while continuing to provide safe housing, Christ-centered support, counseling, life-skills development, and practical encouragement for young mothers facing some of life's greatest challenges.

Impact Spotlight: 100% of Current Residents Are Employed

For the first time in The Haven's history, every current resident is employed.

This milestone represents far more than jobs.

Behind each position is a young woman choosing perseverance over discouragement, responsibility over uncertainty, and hope over fear. Employment provides more than a paycheck; it builds confidence, restores dignity, develops life skills, and lays the foundation for long-term independence.

While balancing work, counseling, prenatal appointments, parenting education, and preparing for motherhood, each resident continues taking meaningful steps toward a brighter future.

We celebrate this achievement because it reflects what is possible when determination meets opportunity and a caring community walks faithfully alongside young mothers.

Beyond employment, life at The Haven continues to flourish.

This month, The Haven provided approximately 97 nights of safe housing and care, offering three young mothers and one precious baby a place where healing can begin.

Our volunteers also faithfully invested their time caring for the property, improving landscaping, laying donated sod, and helping ensure The Haven remains a welcoming home for every mother who walks through our doors.

Every accomplishment; whether large or small, reminds us that transformation happens one relationship, one opportunity, and one act of encouragement at a time.

Because of your continued prayers, generosity, and partnership, hope continues to grow.

From Our Leadership

Last month, we paused our regular leadership message to introduce you to Ariana through our first Staff Spotlight. We hope that you enjoyed getting to know one of the dedicated people who helps make The Haven's ministry possible each day.

Our Staff Spotlight will return periodically as we continue introducing you to the incredible individuals God has brought together to serve our residents. Until then, we invite you to enjoy this month's leadership message from Executive Director Leah Manning.

At The Haven, we believe every person is wonderfully made in the image of God and deeply loved by Him. Yet many of the young women who come to us have experienced trauma, neglect, abuse, or broken relationships that have shaped the way they see themselves, others, and even God. While we cannot erase the hardships of the past, we can offer something incredibly powerful: a safe place where the love of Christ is demonstrated through consistent, compassionate relationships.

I am excited to share that our entire staff recently completed Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) training. As a TBRI Practitioner, it was my privilege to lead our team through this life-changing model of care. We are also blessed to have Kristin Avery, LMSW, our on-site counselor, serving as a TBRI Practitioner, integrating these principles into her counseling with our residents. Even more exciting, our Resident Director, Ariana Fountain, has been accepted into the TBRI Practitioner Training and will complete her training this fall, allowing our ministry to continue growing in excellence.

TBRI, developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, is an evidence-based, attachment-centered approach designed to help people heal from the effects of trauma. While the research behind TBRI is remarkable, what resonates with us most is how closely its principles reflect the heart of Christ.

Connecting Principles remind us that healing happens through relationships. Jesus consistently met people with compassion before correction, seeing their hearts before their circumstances. In the same way, we strive to build trust, create safety, and help each resident know she is valued, seen, and loved.

Empowering Principles teach us to care for the whole person by meeting both physical and emotional needs. Just as Jesus cared for people's bodies, minds, and spirits, we seek to help our residents find stability, regulate their emotions, and build the confidence needed to move toward independence.

Correcting Principles help us respond to challenging behaviors with grace, wisdom, and teaching rather than shame. Scripture tells us to "speak the truth in love," and TBRI equips us to guide residents toward healthy choices while preserving their dignity and strengthening our relationships with them.

At The Haven, we believe healing is possible because God is in the business of redemption. Every conversation, every shared meal, every counseling session, every life skills class, and every moment of encouragement is an opportunity to reflect the love of Christ and help a young woman discover the hope He offers.

Thank you for making this ministry possible. Your prayers, generosity, and partnership allow us to provide more than housing, they allow us to create a home where young women encounter grace, experience healing, and begin to believe that their future can be different because of God's unfailing love.

Ways To Support

Be a Part of Wonderfully Made; An Evening of Music, Hope & Impact

This August, our community will gather for an unforgettable evening of inspiring music, powerful stories, and lasting impact; an event that is about far more than a concert.

At 6:00pm on Saturday, August 29, The Haven at Hebron will host Wonderfully Made, our annual signature fundraising event featuring three-time GRAMMY® nominee, American Idol Top 3 finalist, and three-time K-LOVE Male Vocalist of the Year, Danny Gokey.

Danny's music has inspired millions with messages of hope, perseverance, and faith,

Those same themes are reflected every day at The Haven as young mothers facing homelessness discover safety, stability, encouragement, and the opportunity to build brighter futures for themselves and their babies.

That's why Wonderfully Made is about far more than welcoming an award-winning Christian artist to our community. Every ticket purchased, every sponsorship secured, and every conversation shared helps provide life-changing support for mothers experiencing one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.

Your attendance helps make possible:

  • Safe housing for vulnerable pregnant women
  • Trauma-informed counseling and emotional support
  • Parenting education and life-skills development
  • Employment and educational guidance
  • Resources that help mothers prepare for life beyond The Haven

When guests attend Wonderfully Made, they aren't simply enjoying an evening of outstanding music—they're investing in stories of hope that continue long after the lights dim and the final song is sung.

Whether you come with family, invite your small group, gather coworkers, or bring friends, you'll become part of a community committed to helping mothers and babies flourish.

As we continue preparing for this special evening, we invite you to reserve your seats, share the event with others, and pray that Wonderfully Made will inspire hearts while providing life-changing support for the families we serve.

We look forward to welcoming you on August 29 as we celebrate what God is doing through The Haven and what He will continue to do through a community that chooses to stand beside vulnerable mothers and babies.

Reserve your tickets today and join us for an evening of music, hope, and lasting impact.

Community and Gratitude

The Haven continues to be blessed by churches, businesses, volunteers, and community partners who faithfully invest their time, talents, and resources into the lives of the families we serve.

From maintaining our property and preparing meals to donating essential supplies and encouraging our residents through prayer and mentorship, every act of kindness helps create an environment where healing and hope can flourish.

Thank you to every individual, family, church, business, and volunteer who continues to walk alongside The Haven.

Together, we are building stronger futures for mothers and babies.

Because of You

Every resident arrives at The Haven carrying a unique story.

Some come with uncertainty.
Some arrive carrying fear.
Many have never experienced the kind of stability that allows healing to begin.

This month, because of your prayers, generosity, and faithful partnership, we were able to welcome another young mother into our home.

While every journey is different, each resident begins with the same opportunity; to experience safety, discover hope, and begin building a future for herself and her child.

As relationships grow, confidence develops, and practical life skills take root, we are continually reminded that lasting transformation happens one day at a time.

Thank you for making moments like these possible. Your support provides more than housing; it creates a place where healing begins, hope is restored, and brighter futures become possible.

Please continue praying for every mother currently living at The Haven as they prepare for motherhood and pursue lives marked by stability, purpose, and hope.
